We are custom home builders with a passion for high-quality green building.  Our services include all phases of construction, construction planning and permitting.  From forming the foundation and framing to custom cabinetry, tile-setting and installation of metal roofing, our goal is to build quality construction with non-toxic materials that are healthy for your family and the environment.  While every project will vary based on the client's goals, many green building features cost little more than conventional products, but make your home more valuable and give real savings on monthly heating and cooling costs.

  • High-insulation walls, roofs and air sealing to maximize energy efficiency including Passive House designs and details;

  • All non-toxic paints, stains, finishes and glues;

  • Blown cellulose insulation made from recycled materials;

  • Sustainably-harvested (FSC Certified) and salvaged wood;

  • High-efficiency heating, cooling and air filtration systems;

For customers interested in a truly unique and high-efficiency building, we also offer strawbale construction which uses carbon negative strawbales, along with post and beam structural support, to achieve one of the most environmentally conscious building forms available. Green Thumb Projects recently completed a Hood River build of the first 3-story strawbale townhouses in the United States.
